Jennie's blog
Six months old

Can you believe it's been six months since Eva was born? I can't. I just went back and looked at a few pictures from the week she came home. I had forgotten how little and squishy she was. I seem to get it into my mind that my babies are so big and grown up, but then they grow and I realize they were far more precious.
Eva had her six month appointment a few weeks ago, but had a cold. Poor baby. She ended up on breathing treatments for a week. They seemed to clear her up and she's doing better after breathing treatments, antibiotics and immunizations. Her digestion may not be the same for a while, though.
Midnight Wanderings
Submitted by Jennie on Tue, 02/23/2010 - 3:31pm.Hayden crawled into our bed last night sometime around 3:30 a.m. Sometime around 4 a.m. I felt him slide off of the bed. I followed him out to the couch where he was cuddling up under a blanket. I thought "Sure, he can sleep there. No harm done." I tucked him in and returned to my pillow. I was awakened at 4:30 a.m. by a strange sound. I saw the light in the kitchen was on and went to investigate. Hayden had pulled out pots and pans, a few baking gadgets and was rummaging in the refrigerator for yogurt. Good thing the sound of the refrigerator woke me up. We might have had an even bigger mess!
Loosing my mind
Submitted by Jennie on Mon, 02/15/2010 - 4:32pm.That's how I feel today. Truly. I made invitations to our Young Women's New Beginnings. I stamped them last week, and now can't remember if I mailed them, or if I've lost them and they are nowhere to be found. I was talking to they YW President today (feeling sheepish and a little panicky) and she said "I told my husband my week starts on Sunday." The more I think about it, the more I know she's right! Here is our week in a (rather large) nut shell:
Monday: Clean the downstairs (done!), run Visiting Teaching stuff around, FHE, PM- birthday get together (looking forward to a girls hour!)
Tuesday: AM- Eva's 6 Month appointment, PM- YW Pres. meeting, plan YW lesson during quiet time.
Let's Play a Game
Submitted by Jennie on Wed, 02/10/2010 - 4:06pm.Hayden has learned when I say "Let's play a game," he gets Momma/Hayden time. I wanted to share with you a 'game' I came up with one rainy afternoon. I drew a little man on poster board (artist I am not), used some 3x5 cards to write parts of the little man and put pieces of rolled tape on the back of the cards. Hayden LOVES this game. I read him the card and he puts the card on the appropriate part of the man. If you made the man wider, you could include colors, shapes, etc. Whatever you are working on with your toddler. In fact, I think I may go color the little man game right now!

Hayden the Hunk

I did a lot of kid shopping this week. I hit the super sale stuff at Carter's and Osh Gosh B'Gosh at the Tracy Outlets and The Children's Place in the Pleasanton mall to bulk up the kids sumer and fall wardrobes for this year (always trying to think ahead!). Hayden's Sunday wardrobe was severely lacking. The last time I bought Sunday clothes for him was last spring, so as part of my trips this week I picked up the cutest pants, shirts, vests and TIES for him. I got him all duded up this morning and had to show him off before he fell asleep this afternoon. Personally, I think he's a heart-breaker. I'll throw in a few extra pics with Eva and me, too. The girls didn't get the new duds, but we got all the kisses!
Comment ability added to blog
Submitted by Jennie on Sun, 02/07/2010 - 3:44pm.I've had my super smart honey add the ability to make comments to our blog. The action is not retro-active, so if you have comments to make about past blog entries you may add them here! When we first created this blog I was unfamiliar with the blogging world and unaware of how much I would want to hear from each of you. My tune has changed, and I hope to hear YOUR tune soon!
** My sexy security man just told me that all comments will be moderated. We trust you explicitly, it's the spam bots we don't trust. Your comment will have to be read and accepted before you see it, but I'm here often enough it should show up within a few days. Thanks! Jennie
Bag Finished
Submitted by Jennie on Sun, 02/07/2010 - 3:35pm.Just showing off!! My sister asked me to make this for a friend of hers. This is the first bag I've completed with a zippered pocket, though I've wanted to do it for a long time. My sister said I should make business cards. I'm thinking about it. Then I could create things on a request basis. My biggest hang-up: insecurity. Hmm...
I can do hard things, right?

If you ever feel ordinary...
Submitted by Jennie on Thu, 02/04/2010 - 4:06pm.Last Saturday I attended an amazing event that is, as far as I know, unique to our stake. Once a year there is a Relief Society meeting held on a Saturday morning for the entire stake. Last year they announced that the theme would be "Come Unto Christ" and we were to do something throughout the year that would help us draw closer to Christ. The things presented were amazing! Personal fitness goals, home decorations, family history, poems, journals, studying, talents developed and shared- what an amazing range of accomplishments. I'm feeling sad that I didn't take the opportunity given.
My Handy Hayden Helper
Submitted by Jennie on Sat, 01/30/2010 - 12:27am.One of the sure-fire ways I have of getting Hayden to do something is to tell him I need a Handy Hayden Helper. This week I made a strong effort to get things cleaned up and Hayden couldn't wait to help. He's a fabulous mop pusher and dust rag swiper. Eva wasn't happy if she wasn't being held, so she made my work a core-strengthening activity. Her smile made it hard to hate house work!

Hayden loves reading to Eva. As you can see, it was also laundry day.

All of that cleaning wore Hayden out. It was quiet upstairs so I snuck up with the camera to see what he was doing. This is what I found.
Family fun
Submitted by Jennie on Sat, 01/30/2010 - 12:10am.Tonight we decided to have a 'family fun' night. We picked up Papa Murphy's and a Red Box (Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs- one of Hayden's favorite books) and ate pizza while we watched the movie. It was really fun. Hayden loved sitting infront of the tv during dinner, and we all got some good Daddy cuddle time.
I'm taking bets- who thinks Hayden will now ask for a special family night every night? It may not be a very lucrative bet.
